Disclaimer: this post will contain an inordinate amount of pictures because this palette is gorgeous and I did my best to capture its complexity in the photos. You have been warned.
There is absolutely no doubt that the Shiseido Eye Color Bar is the star of the brand’s fall 2013 collection. This stunning product is a nine-shade palette which essentially comprises three Shiseido eyeshadow trios that can be mixed and matched to create endless combinations. All colours are new and were created especially for the holiday season, according to Shiseido makeup artistic director Dick Page.
The unique element about the Eye Color Bar is that it includes two “magical” shades (the lightest ones at the top left and bottom right), which are formulated with polarised pearls and can transform the other colors into new ones. Sounds exciting, right?
Champagne* is a sparkling straw gold colour; Noisette is a soft reddish-brown; Mènthe is a fresh, cool green; Parfait Amour is a satiny purple with multicolour sparkle; Liquorice is a smooth black shade; Cassis is a lustrous pinky-red; Curaçao is a lively royal blue; Café is a subdued brown; and Soda* is a shimmering pale pink. The shades marked with an asterisk are the so-called magical colours.
The palette itself is made of high-quality cardboard but can be easily depotted into three trios, as you will see in the pics below. The photos were taken in natural light and include direct and indirect sunlight shots so you can see the shimmer/sparkles where appropriate. The weather has been changing all day though, hence the difference in the lighting between pictures.
In my next post (Part 2), you will see close-ups of each trio as well as swatches.
